Details:

The annual Shooting Sports Campout (Schützenfest) will take place in Wardensville, WV, March 13-15, 2026. Scouts will learn about and participate in a wide variety of shooting sports under the supervision of trained and certified adult instructors.

 

Meet:
5:30PM on Friday March 13 in the lower parking lot at St. George UMC. Depart at 6:00PM. Return: Sunday, March 15 at approximately 12:00PM at the Giant in the University Mall parking lot.

 

Special instructions:
Bring a bag lunch for Friday dinner or eat before you arrive. Pack for a range of weather including warm/dry and cold/wet.

 

Permission:

By signing this form, I give explicit permission for my child to attend Troop 1865's Shooting Sports weekend (Schützenfest). I understanding this is an official activity approved by National Capital Area Council (NCAC) Range And Target Activities (RATA) committee with active shooting ranges run in accordance with NRA specifications and staffed by certified, qualified, and approved personnel. Range activities include rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader, archery, tomahawk, and wrist rocket.

Mandatory Training:

ALL scouts and adults participating on the ranges must attend a mandatory safety class on Sunday, March 8. Included in this training is a safety briefing required by Scouting America for any and all shooting sports participants before any event. If you plan on entering the ranges this year, you must attend the training.

When: Sunday, March 8, 6-9pm

Where: Izaak Walton League of America, 14708 Mt Olive Rd, Centreville, VA 20121

Required?: Yes. This is a Scouting America requirement for each event before you are allow on any shooting sports range.

Firearms:
Firearms are strictly accounted for and monitored. No personal firearms or bows not already registered and approved by the NCAC RATA committee.

Fees: $55 (plus $15 for adults in bunkhouse)

For logistics, planning, and training required to properly and safely implement shooting sports, the sign up for this campout will close on Sunday, March 8.
