Fishing Trip 2026

Details:

"That fish was thiiiiiiiissss far from the boat." The troop is headed to VA Beach for a private fishing charter out of Rudee Inlet.

  • Fishing charter will be morning for 4 hours.

  • Max boat capacity is 50 passengers.

  • All scouts attending this trip MUST be go fishing. No staying back at camp.

  • Bottom fishing. Target species is croaker.

  • All gear is provided (rods, reels, bait, etc)

  • Troop will bring coolers to bring fish back to camp. If you want to bring more fish home, bring your own cooler.

Camping will be primitive camping at the very nearby State Military Reservation (VA National Guard). ​

  • Base access requirements forthcoming.​

Remainder of Saturday will be spent at camp.​

  • Clean and cook the fish you caught!

  • Dinner TBD, likely have a large fish fry and patrols make their own sides or supplemental protein.

  • Beach access on base is likely available, but not guaranteed. Bring swimsuit and beach toys.

  • If beach access, swimmer classification is not necessary, all will be categorized as a non-swimmer area (ie knee deep only).

Dates: Fri, Aug 28 - Sun, Aug 30 (first weekend after school starts)

Meet: Scouts will meet at St. George’s Church at 5:00 PM on Friday, depart by 5:30. Eat dinner before you come or bring with you. Pick up at the University Mall Giant Parking Lot, est noon on Sunday. 

Special Instructions: 

  • Tents only, no hammocks please.

  • Beach toys and/or field games are welcome, but be cognizant of packing space.

  • Do not forget sun and heat protection including sunscreen, hat, long sleeves, and plenty of water. And bug repellant!

  • There is a snack bar on the boat, bring money if you would like to partake (prices unknown). You may also bring snacks and drinks on board.

Fee: $80 (includes all costs, except snack bar money)

If an adult NOT fishing (meaning not coming on the boat), your cost is $30. But we will ask you to help shuttle to/from the marina.
